UIN Malang Conducts Field Assessment as Initial Stage of Opening Masters in Sharia Economic Law

MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY - Through the Sharia Faculty, it officially held a field assessment as part of the opening process of the Sharia Economic Law Masters Study Program (HES) on Wednesday, March 4 2026, at the Meeting Room of the Sharia Faculty. This activity is a strategic stage to ensure academic and institutional readiness before the new study program receives official approval and accepts students.

Assessments are carried out to assess the governance of study programs, curriculum, quality and qualifications of human resources, facilities and infrastructure, as well as internal quality assurance systems according to established standards. Present as external assessor Prof. Dr. Sri Lum'atus Sa'adah, M.HI from UIN KHAS Jember and Dr. Nurul Huda, M.HI from UNUGIRI Bojonegoro. Also present were representatives of the Sub-directorate of Academic Development of the PTKI Directorate, Fatkhu Yasik, S.Pd., M.Pd., as Head of Sub-Directorate of Academic Quality along with his staff Malidah Awwaliyah. This activity was also attended by Deputy Chancellor I Drs. Basri, Ph.D., Chairman of the Senate Prof. Dr. H. Nur Ali, M.Pd., Chair of LPM Prof. Dr. Sri Harini, as well as the Dean of the Sharia Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M.Ag. along with the faculty leaders.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M.Ag. emphasized that the opening of this program was a response to the rapid development of sharia economics and was supported by the readiness of human resources, including four professors and a number of doctors in the field of Sharia Economic Law. The HES undergraduate study program, which has a superior predicate and has a network of national and international collaborations, is a strong foundation for the development of this master's program.

Vice Chancellor I Drs. Basri, Ph.D. emphasized that the opening of study programs must be in line with the university's vision as a superior campus with an international reputation. Meanwhile, Fatkhu Yasik, S.Pd., M.Pd. conveyed that the results of the assessment and the assessor's recommendations would immediately be followed up for the application process to BAN-PT. Through this assessment, the Sharia Faculty shows its commitment to providing high-quality and globally competitive Islamic-based higher education.
