MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY — A proud achievement has once again been recorded by students of the Faculty of Sharia at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in the National Debate Competition organized by the National Campus Da'wah Institution Silaturahmi Forum (FSLDKN) XXII. The competition took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the 7th floor of the FISIP Faculty Building, Brawijaya University Malang.

The delegation team from the Faculty of Sharia, consisting of Muna Sofiawardah as the first speaker, Fara Aqlina as the second speaker, and Naufal Wahib as the third speaker, successfully achieved the 1st Hope Award after going through a series of competitive debates with participants from various universities in Indonesia.

Muna Sofiawardah expressed her gratitude for the achievement her team has attained. According to her, the preparation for the competition was conducted intensively for about two weeks after the debate motion was announced by the committee.

“After the debate motion was released, we immediately conducted research according to each speaker's portion. We also held regular meetings every night to thoroughly discuss the motion that would be debated,” she said.

Not only focused on material research, the team also practiced speaking and simulated debates regularly. During the preparation process, they were accompanied by a mentor and coach, Coach Habib, who helped train their speaking fluency and debate strategies, especially leading up to the grand final round.

However, the preparation journey was not always smooth. The busy schedules of each team member became one of the main challenges in arranging a study schedule together every night.

“The challenge was more about adjusting study times because each of us had different commitments. Sometimes someone could attend, sometimes not. But thank God, with continuous communication and discussions, we were still able to study together diligently,” she added.

This achievement is proof that cooperation, consistency, and a spirit of learning can lead students to continue to grow and excel at the national level.

At the end of the interview, the debate team from the Faculty of Sharia also expressed their gratitude to the campus, friends, mentors, and all parties who have provided support during the competition process. They also motivated other students to dare to try and take advantage of every opportunity available during their studies.

“Thank you to our beloved campus, friends, coach, and everyone who has always supported us to keep growing. To fellow students, do not waste your youth. Take advantage of every opportunity, do not wait until you are ready to start something. Just try, fail, and then try again, because that is part of success,” she concluded.
