Faculty of Sharia

Department of Sharia Economic Law (HES)


The Department of Sharia Economic Law (HES) is a leading program that focuses on the development of economic law based on Sharia principles, integrated with the Indonesian legal system. The department is designed to produce graduates with strong academic, professional, and moral competencies to address the challenges of the growing Sharia economy and business sectors at both national and global levels.

 Department of Constitutional Law


Department of Constitutional Law (Siyāsah), Faculty of Sharia, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang establishes the vision of “Becoming an excellent and internationally reputable Department of Constitutional Law in fostering a harmonious, beneficial (maslahah), and enlightened society.” This vision is formulated through input from stakeholders and aligned with the vision of the university and faculty, serving as the foundation for education, learning, and departmental development. The development of the Department of Constitutional Law follows the institutional development phases of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (2006–2010: institutional and academic strengthening; 2011–2020: regional reputation; 2021–2030: international reputation) and emphasizes the integration of knowledge. This includes the integration of pesantren and higher education systems, as well as positioning the Qur’an and Hadith as sources of inspiration for the development of law in Indonesia.

 Department of Hadith Studies (ILHA)


The Department of Hadith Studies (ILHA) is part of the Faculty of Sharia at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. It was officially established under Decree Number 524 of 2023 and began its operations in June 2023, with its most recent accreditation rated as “Good.” The department was developed as part of the university’s broader vision toward achieving international reputation, with a curriculum aligned with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), National Higher Education Standards (SNPT), and the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy. Institutionally, ILHA is designed to be responsive to advancements in science and technology, as well as socio-religious dynamics, enabling it to produce graduates who are adaptive while remaining rooted in Islamic scholarly traditions.

Department of Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir (IAT) 


The Department of Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir (IAT), Faculty of Sharia, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, is established as a department focused on strengthening the study of the Qur’an and Tafsir through an integrative, multidisciplinary, and internationally oriented approach. The department is built upon a clear vision to become a center for the development of Qur’anic and Tafsir studies that is not only academically strong but also relevant to contemporary social, legal, and humanitarian challenges. This vision is aligned with the development direction of both the university and the faculty, and serves as the primary foundation for all educational and learning processes.

Department of Islamic Family Law


The Department of Al-Ahwal Al-Syakhshiyyah, Faculty of Sharia was developed from the Al-Ahwal Al-Syakhshiyyah Study Program under the Department of Sharia at the State Islamic College (STAIN) Malang, which was established in the 1997/1998 academic year based on the Decree of the Director General for Islamic Institutional Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs No. E/107/1998 dated May 13, 1998. As formal recognition of the Department of Al-Ahwal Al-Syakhshiyyah, in 2002 the Decree of the Director General for Islamic Institutional Development of the Ministry of Religious Affairs No. E/10/2002 was issued, stating that graduates of the program were awarded the degree Sarjana Hukum Islam (S.HI.). Since August 9, 2015, the degree designation has been updated to Sarjana Hukum (S.H).

 Department of Biology


The Department of Biology, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, is established as an educational institution that integrates academic excellence with Islamic values. With a vision to become an excellent and internationally reputable department in the application of biological sciences through the integration of science and Islam for sustainable management of biological resources, the department is committed to producing graduates who are competent, well-rounded, and capable of making meaningful contributions to society. The implementation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum in academic activities is designed not only to emphasize theoretical mastery but also to develop practical skills, research capabilities, and readiness to face global challenges. Graduates of the Department of Biology are awarded the Bachelor of Science (S.Si.) degree and are prepared for careers as early-career researchers in biology and biotechnology, laboratory analysts, environmental specialists, educators and academics, as well as entrepreneurs in bioresource-based sectors.

Master’s Program in Biology


Master’s Program in Biology at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is a distinguished graduate program designed to address the challenges of modern biological sciences while meeting the demands of the professional world. With a vision to achieve international reputation, the program integrates scientific knowledge, innovative research, and Islamic values in the sustainable management of biological resources. The learning process emphasizes not only mastery of concepts but also the development of critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities to address strategic issues such as biotechnology, healthcare, conservation, and the halal industry.

Department of Chemistry 


The Department of Chemistry under the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is located on the 2nd floor of the B.J. Habibie Building, Campus 1, Jl. Gajayana No. 50, Malang, East Java. The department was established based on the recommendation of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education No. 3445/D/T/2002 (November 20, 2002), formally authorized through the Decree of the Directorate General of Islamic Institutions No. DJ.II/59/2003 (April 24, 2003), and began admitting students in the 2003/2004 academic year. With a vision to become an internationally reputable department in mastering and applying chemical sciences in the fields of halal products, phytopharmaceuticals, energy, and the environment through the integration of science and Islamic values, the department remains committed to producing chemists of Ulul Albab character.

The Department of Physics (Undergraduate Program) at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, under the Faculty of Science and Technology, Developing physics that combines science and Islam through learning and research in the fields of renewable energy, advanced materials, environment, health and food security to produce graduates with the character of ulul albab

Department of Mathematics 


The Department of Mathematics at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is a higher education institution with a scientific vision “to become an internationally reputable department in the development of mathematical theory and its applications through strengthened computational approaches that integrate science and Islamic values.” The department primarily focuses on advancing both theoretical and applied mathematics, particularly through computational mathematics grounded in the integration of science and Islamic principles, making it distinctive in its approach. Its curriculum is designed not only to emphasize intellectual excellence in pure and applied mathematics but also to incorporate computational methods for problem-solving, while aligning these competencies with a strong foundation of spiritual and religious values.

Department of Informatics Engineering


The Department of Informatics Engineering (Undergraduate Program) at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, under the Faculty of Science and Technology, is committed to producing outstanding graduates in the field of information technology through the integration of informatics knowledge and Islamic values in every aspect of the learning process. The curriculum is designed to be adaptive to the rapid development of the digital industry and the demands of national technological transformation, covering key areas such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, computer networks, and intelligent systems. Students are equipped with strong analytical, programming, and system design skills aligned with industry needs, supported by an Outcome-Based Education framework that corresponds to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework. In addition, the program emphasizes the development of essential soft skills, including communication, collaboration, and problem-solving, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to compete at both national and international levels.

Master's Program of Informatics Engineering 


Master Program of Computer Science (Magister Informatika) aims to produce high qualified human resources and advanced research in Information Technology based on the values of Al-Qur’an and Al-Hadits. Learning materials for the master program consist of the core of Computer Science subject and universities subjects. The materials of Computer Science subjects compose more than 77% of learning activities which cover class courses and research activities. Expertise developed in this program intelligent system, software engineering, information system, computer network, and datamining. The students are also equipped with the capability to recognize and deploy the values of Al-Qur’an and Al-Hadits in order to enrich the development of Information Technology.

Department of Library and Information Science


In today’s digital era, information is no longer merely a collection of data, but a key driver of progress. The Department of Library and Information Science is dedicated to producing information professionals who are not only proficient in technology-based information management but also uphold strong moral integrity, resulting in graduates who excel intellectually and possess profound spiritual depth. Studying in this department means preparing to become a professional who is relevant to the demands of the times. The education we provide is designed to shape information professionals who are not only technically skilled in managing information centers but also demonstrate integrity, ethical responsibility, and broad insight.

Department of Architectural Engineering


The Department of Architecture at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was established on January 23, 2004, and has continued to grow as a distinctive architecture program characterized by the integration of scientific knowledge and Islamic values. Situated within a leading Islamic public university, the department is committed to producing professional architects who are not only technically competent but also possess strong moral integrity and spiritual awareness.

Department of Civil Engineering 


The Department of Civil Engineering at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang implements an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum that emphasizes the achievement of graduate competencies aligned with the demands of the workforce and the advancement of the modern construction industry. The curriculum is systematically developed through periodic evaluations involving academic experts, industry practitioners, alumni, and other stakeholders. The learning process integrates lectures, laboratory practicums, case studies, fieldwork, design projects, and student research activities, fostering an applied learning approach that enables students to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world practice and enhances their career readiness upon graduation. In addition, the department actively cultivates a productive research culture as a key component of academic excellence, with research conducted by faculty members and students spanning various areas of civil engineering, focusing on sustainable infrastructure development, environmentally friendly construction technologies, disaster risk mitigation, and the application of digital technologies in civil engineering. The outcomes of these research initiatives are not only published in scientific journals but also implemented through community engagement programs as practical solutions to development challenges.

Department of Mechanical Engineering 


The Mechanical Engineering Study Program of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has a total of 69 courses, including 2 elective courses designed to provide flexibility and deepen students' interests and competencies in the field of mechanical engineering. The total study load that must be taken by students during the study period is 146 credits, consisting of compulsory university, faculty, and study program courses.

Department of Electrical Engineering 


The Electrical Engineering Study Program is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. It focuses on the development of electrical, electronics, control systems, and IoT technologies integrated with Islamic values. The OBE-based curriculum is tailored to the needs of industry and current technology.

Department of Environmental Engineering 


The Environmental Engineering Study Program exists in response to the increasingly complex global challenges in the environmental sector. We are committed to producing graduates who are not only competent in the technical aspects of environmental management, but also possess Islamic character, integrity, and the ability to provide sustainable solutions for society.


Our curriculum is designed to integrate science and technology with spiritual values, so that students are not only equipped with academic and practical skills, but also instilled with ethical awareness and moral responsibility in preserving the environment. With the support of professional teaching staff, adequate laboratory facilities, and a network of collaborations with various parties, we are optimistic that the Environmental Engineering Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang can become a center of excellence in the development of science and practice of effective environmental management.

Department of English Language Education

The Department of English Language Education is a department focused on developing English language competencies integrated with Islamic values and the Ulul Albab character. This program is designed to produce prospective educators and professionals in the field of English who are not only academically excellent but also possess strong moral integrity, ethics, and global insight.  

Department of Islamic Religious Education

The Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Study Program was the first program that laid the foundation for the establishment of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang. Established on July 18, 1961, the PAI Study Program has surpassed six decades of dedication to building an Islamic academic and educational tradition.  

Department of Primary Madrasah Teacher Education

The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) of the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was established in 1961, based on the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 60 of 1961 dated July 18, 1961 with the name of the Faculty of Tarbiyah. In 2004 through Presidential Decree number 50 the President of the Republic of Indonesia changed the status of STAIN Malang to the State Islamic University (UIN) Malang with 6 faculties and postgraduate programs including the Faculty of Tarbiyah. In its development, the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2009 changed the name of UIN Malang to  UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. In 2013 the name of the Faculty of Tarbiyah of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang changed to the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.  

Department of Social Studies Education

The Social Sciences Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang provides undergraduate education (S-1) based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education Number E/138/1999. This study program was established in 1999 with the initial name Tadris IPS. Along with institutional development and improvement of academic quality, in 2005 this study program received an extension of its status as an officially recognized study program.  

Department of Early Childhood Islamic Education

PIAUD UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is a leading study program that produces professional, creative, and virtuous early childhood educators. By combining Islamic values and educational innovation, PIAUD is committed to producing a generation of quality educators for the future of the nation.  

Department of Arabic Language Education

The Arabic Language Education Study Program (PBA) is one of the study programs currently at the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang. At its inception, the Arabic Language Education Study Program was at the Faculty of Humanities and Culture which was established based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education Number: Dj.I/Dt.I.IV/1/PP.00.9/510.B/2007 dated May 31, 2007 concerning the Permit to Organize the Undergraduate Study Program of the Arabic Language Education Study Program. Subsequently, in 2012, the permit was extended through the Decree of the Director of Islamic Education Number 1223 of 2012. Then in 2014, the existence of the Arabic Language Education Study Program was moved to the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training (FITK) based on the Rector's Decree number Un.3/PP.00.9/1211/2014.  

Department of Islamic Education Management

The Islamic Education Management (MPI) study program is one of the study programs at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang. Structurally, the Islamic Education Management (MPI) study program is under the structure of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK). All tasks and functions of the study program are handled and led directly by a Head of Study Program who is assisted by a Secretary of Study Program and 2 staff. The appointment of the Head and Secretary of Study Program is through an election mechanism by members of the Senate of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) in accordance with the rules stated in the Decree of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia Number 137 of 2008 concerning the Statutes of the State Islamic University of Malang, part eight article 106 paragraph (2) concerning the procedures for appointing the Head of Department, Secretary of Department and Head of Study Program.  

Department of Mathematics Education

The Undergraduate Mathematics Education Program at the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training (FITK) at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is committed to developing superior mathematics education through a paradigm of scientific integration . We combine science, pedagogy, and Islamic values ​​in a holistic manner.  

Master of Mathematics Education

The Master of Mathematics Education (MPMat) Study Program at the Postgraduate Program of the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was established based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 294/KPT/I/2018 dated March 19, 2018. The Master of Mathematics Education Study Program at UIN Malang achieved “ Very Good” accreditation status  from the Independent Education Accreditation Institute ( LAMDIK ) which was established in 2025.  

Program of Teacher Professional Education

Based on Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers, it is stated that the implementation of the PPG program is carried out after the undergraduate or applied undergraduate program. In addition, the PPG Program is a professional education program or is at level 7 in the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI).  


Faculty of Humanities

Department of English Literature


The English Literature Study Program is part of the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and has a long-standing track record in the development of English language, literature, and cultural studies. The program was established on May 13, 1998, under its original name, Tadris Bahasa Inggris, and has continued to evolve alongside the institutional transformation of the university.

Since 2017, it has been officially known as the English Literature Study Program, reflecting a broader and more in-depth academic focus that aligns with global dynamics, intercultural communication, and the strengthening of Islamic values within the field of humanities.

Department of Arabic Language and Literature


The Department of Arabic Language and Literature under the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is one of the university’s leading academic departments, established on May 13, 1998, based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education No. E/107/1998. Since its inception, the department has become a preferred choice for students seeking to master the Arabic language and culture while preparing for professional careers across various fields.

Department of Psychology


The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Psychology at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is an academic unit committed to developing psychological sciences through the integration of scientific knowledge and Islamic values. Established in 1997 and later developed into a faculty in 2002, the Department of Psychology has consistently demonstrated progress in governance, academic quality, and scholarly contributions. Situated within UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, which is known for its integrated knowledge paradigm, the department reinforces its position as a center for psychological studies that is excellent, innovative, and internationally reputable.

Master’s Program in Professional Psychology


The Department of Master’s Program in Psychology at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was established in 2019 based on a Decree of the Minister of National Education and has been managed by the Faculty of Psychology since 2020. The program is designed to respond to the growing need for psychology professionals who are academically competent while grounded in Islamic values. With a multi-entry system, it accommodates graduates from both Psychology and non-Psychology backgrounds, equipping students with strong scientific research skills, a comprehensive understanding of human behavior through the integration of psychology and Islam, and a firm commitment to professional ethical standards.  


Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

Department of Pharmacy


The Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program of FKIK UIN Maliki Malang was held based on a recommendation letter from the Ministry of National Education, Director General of Higher Education Number 928/E/T/2012 on July 3, 2012. Following up on the letter, the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia issued a permit decree Number 2753 concerning the Implementation of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Study Program (S-1) on December 17, 2012.

Department of Pharmacist Professional Education (PSPPA)


The Department of Pharmacist Professional Education (PSPPA), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, is a professional education program aimed at producing pharmacists with the Ulul Albab character. PSPPA UIN Malang delivers professional education in accordance with national standards, with a distinctive institutional approach that integrates pharmaceutical sciences and Islamic values. As a result, its graduates are not only technically competent but also possess strong professional ethics.

Department of Medical Education


The Medical Education Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, was established on March 28, 2016, boasting a magnificent and modern physical appearance. With professional human resources and supported by a strong Islamic spirit, the PSPD UIN Malang will continue to move forward to produce doctors with Ulul Albab character and build an advanced Islamic civilization in the field of medicine.

Department of Professional Doctor


The professional stage of medical education, also known as clinical clerkship, is the clinical learning stage for a medical graduate (S.Ked) to earn a medical degree. The Professional Doctor Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, was established through Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 126/KPT/1/2016. This study program is a competency-based advanced professional study program held at the Main Teaching Hospital, network hospitals, Community Health Centers, or other related institutions.

Master of Biomedical Science


The Master's Degree (S2) Biomedical Science Study Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was established based on the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Number 775/B/O/2025 and is a study program that provides quality, integrative, and adaptive Islamic higher education to produce Master's Degree graduates in Biomedical Science with an ecotheology paradigm with the advantage of aging and degenerative processes that combine science and Islam related to Hajj health. 

Master of Pharmaceutical Science


Referring to the UIN Malik Ibrahim Malang Development Strategic Plan in the field of institutional development, the university has set a primary target to prepare for the establishment of Health Science-based study programs, one of which is the Master of Pharmacy Study Program (PSMF). The determination of this target is based on the noble desire of the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang academic community to be able to participate in efforts to develop public health through a health science academic system and the provision of health services that are developed professionally and Islamically.

Department of Management


Creating professional human resources, through a scientific-based environment ( scientific community ), both intellectually and culturally with the hope of being able to compete on a global scale, being flexible and responsive at the national level.

Department of Accounting


The Accounting Study Program of the Faculty of Economics, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim offers a bachelor's program with an  up-to-date curriculum, emphasizing skills in accounting and taxation as well as language skills through a bilingual program in Arabic and English. Through Arabic, students are expected to be able to conduct Islamic studies through English, be able to study modern sciences and as a global communication tool. With this educational model, the Accounting Study Program of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang will produce 'Ulul Albab Accountants' and be predicated as intellectual scholars who are professional and/or intellectual professionals who are scholars who are able to compete in the global world.

The Islamic Banking Study Program of the Faculty of Economics, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is one of the study programs to create professional human resources in the field of Islamic banking through a scientific-based environment ( scientific community ), both intellectually and culturally with the hope of being able to compete on a global scale.

Master of Islamic Studies


The Master of Islamic Studies (S2 SI) program at the State Islamic University of Malang was established to meet the needs of teachers and the general public who wish to deepen their mastery of Islamic sciences related to Islamic history and civilization. The study of Islamic history and the diversity of Islamic civilization can accommodate the broad interests of students from various academic and general backgrounds.

Master of Islamic Economics


As a scientific institution obligated to uphold the Tridharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of education, the Master of Islamic Economics study program is actively responsible for addressing the need for economic education (management, accounting, and banking) that integrates spiritual and moral excellence with professional maturity in management. Smart and strategic steps are crucial to developing human resources capable of integratively applying science and religion in various organizational settings.

Master of Education in Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education


To become a superior study program in developing Islamic elementary education (MI/SD) by integrating Science and Islam to solve problems through research and development of inter or multidisciplinary approaches that are recognized nationally and/or internationally.

Master of Arabic Language Education


The Arabic Language Education (AEL) Master's Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is one of the leading study programs at the UIN Malang Graduate School. The AEL program was established in 2009 in accordance with the Decree of the Director of Islamic Education Number Dj.I/690/2009. The curriculum implemented is a combination of the general Arabic language curriculum and Arabic language education in accordance with modern linguistic findings in particular. The process of socializing religious values is also included in the teaching and learning process.
