CAMPUS I | MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY - The commemoration of the 118th National Awakening Day in 2026 at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was held solemnly and full of national spirit. The ceremony, which took place on Wednesday morning, became an important moment to strengthen unity, dedication, and commitment among all academic members in safeguarding the nation's future.
Acting as the ceremony leader, the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. H. Abdul Hamid, invited all academic members to continue fostering the spirit of national awakening through their best service to the country.
In his address, Prof. Abdul Hamid also conveyed warm greetings from the Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, who is currently fulfilling the mandate as Amirul Haji. He mentioned that the rector had completed the Umrah pilgrimage in Makkah before continuing his duties in serving the Hajj for Indonesian pilgrims.
“He entrusted a message for the entire extended family of UIN Malang to continue to maintain togetherness and to carry out their duties as best as possible while he fulfills his mandate as Amirul Haji for approximately 22 days,” he stated. This year’s National Awakening Day also brings proud news for the campus nicknamed Ulul Albab. On May 20, 2026, the government, through the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, officially signed the establishment of two new faculties, namely the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Studies.
The news was enthusiastically welcomed by all participants of the ceremony. According to Prof. Abdul Hamid, the presence of two new faculties marks an important milestone in the development of the campus institution and is a tangible proof of the progress of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang at the national level.
“This is the best gift for our beloved campus. Hopefully, the great ambition to establish other new faculties will also soon be realized,” he said with optimism.
The 118th National Awakening Day ceremony was not only an annual event but also a moment of reflection to strengthen the spirit of unity, innovation, and dedication to realize a more advanced Indonesia.
