MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY - In the midst of the rapid flow of globalization which is shaping the new face of modern society, the voice of academics is important to provide direction and balance. Fulfilling the invitation of the PMII Alumni Association (IKAPMII) as a resource person in the TVRI Islamic Studies Exclusive Talkshow program in Jakarta on Friday (27/2/2026), the Chancellor of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Hj. Ilfi Nur Diana, M.Si., was present to bring a scientific and reflective perspective on the theme "Today's Social Society and its Ideal in the Context of Globalization."
In this talk show, Prof. Ilfi emphasized that globalization is an inevitability of the times that cannot be avoided, but must be responded to wisely and in a balanced manner.
"The impact of globalization is like a double-edged sword, it can be positive or negative. And now the impact has spread, especially to Gen-Z, who can no longer be separated from gadgets. From my perspective as an academic, students on campus are really helped by globalization. But there are negative impacts, that's why netiquette is important so that digital interactions remain civilized and responsible," he said.
Also present as a resource person, Luluk Nur Hamidah or who is familiarly called Mbak Luluk, Member of the DPR RI 2019-2024 and also the General Chair of the PB IKA Perempuan PMII for the 2025-2030 Solemn Period, who enriched the discussion from a social and public policy perspective. The dialogue was dynamic, dissecting the challenges of contemporary society in facing global change.
Prof. Ilfi explained that in the higher education environment, globalization brings many benefits, starting from easy access to international literature, research collaboration across countries, to strengthening student competencies based on digital technology. However, he emphasized the importance of strengthening values so that progress does not erode the ethics and character of the younger generation.
"If digital literacy is balanced with emotional and spiritual literacy, then the development of globalization will be a great force for building a better civilization," he stressed.
Presence of Prof. In this talk show, Ilfi further emphasized the strategic role of UIN Maliki Malang in presenting academic thinking that is relevant to global issues. This participation also strengthens the institution's reputation as an integrative campus that combines science, technology and Islamic values in responding to the challenges of the times.
