Malang is known as one of the best education and tourism cities in Indonesia. This city offers a comfortable environment for learning, a wealth of culture, and easy access to various top tourist destinations in East Java.
As a student-friendly city with a global perspective, Malang is an ideal place for students to grow both academically and socially. Through various academic activities, community service programs, local collaborations, as well as social and religious initiatives, UIN Malang maintains a harmonious relationship with the people of Malang City and nearby regions. This synergy is expected to promote sustainable development, strengthen Islamic values, and create a positive impact for both the university and the wider community. The distance from Alun-Alun Kota Malang to Campus I UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim (Jalan Gajayana No. 50, Lowokwaru) is approximately 4 to 5 kilometers. The journey usually takes 15–20 minutes by motor vehicle, depending on traffic conditions, generally passing through the routes of Jl. Basuki Rahmat, Jl. Semeru, and Jl. Soekarno-Hatta.

The journey typically takes around 30 to 45 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions, particularly when traveling via Jl. Raya Tlogomas or Jl. Raya Sengkaling.
