MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY - Maulana Malik Ibrahim (Maliki) State Islamic University (UIN) Malang received an audience exploring cooperation from BAWASLU (General Election Supervisory Agency) Malang City and Kreasi Media Institute. Held in the Senate Room on the fourth floor, on Monday, February 2 2026. The meeting discussed opportunities for collaboration in electoral research, seminars and journalism education for students.
Vice Chancellor for Cooperation and Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. H. M. Abdul Hamid, S.Ag., MA welcomed the arrival of Malang City BAWASLU and Kreasi Media Institute. "I hope that this discussion will not only end in an MOU, but will also continue in the PKS," stressed Prof Hamid.
Continued by members of BAWASLU Malang City, Hasbi explained that his party emphasized collaboration with universities. This collaboration will focus on consolidating democracy. "This refers to the evaluation of the 2019 election vulnerability index, which shows the lack of electoral socialization among students," he said.
Bawaslu also opens up opportunities for collaboration in providing seminar speakers, academic research and student internship programs. Apart from that, strengthening the role of students as agents of change in participatory supervision is one of the main focuses.
Meanwhile, Kreasi Media Institute representatives proposed the “Nahaji Journalism” program to increase media literacy. More than that, the program also increases students' level of sensitivity to the rise of hoaxes.
Chair of the Administrative, Academic, Student Affairs and Cooperation Bureau (AAKK), Ita Hidayatus Sholihah, S. Ag., MM emphasized that all stages and qualifications are in accordance with the established mechanism. "In principle, we are open, but we must still follow official procedures," he said.
This hearing is expected to be the first step in strategic synergy between universities, election monitoring institutions and students in strengthening democratic literacy and information literacy in the campus environment.
